Yandex Mail Settings – Set the program according to the IMAP protocol

Using the IMAP protocol, the e-mail program synchronizes with the server and saves the folder structure of your e-mail box. The e-mails you send through the e-mail program will be saved not only on the computer but also on the server. You will be able to access these emails from different devices.

Before setting up the Mail program, enable the IMAP protocol:

1. Click the star icon in the upper right corner.

2. Click the All settings link.

3. Click the Email programs link.

4. Select By IMAP protocol from the imap.yandex.ru server.

5. Save the changes.

To set the e-mail program according to the IMAP protocol, you must specify the following data:

Incoming e-mail

· e-mail server address — imap.yandex.com.tr;

· connection security — SSL;

port — 993.

Email sent

· e-mail server address — smtp.yandex.com.tr;

· connection security — SSL;

port — 465.

Specify your Yandex username and password (or application password if two-factor authentication is enabled) for accessing the mail server. If you are configuring to receive e-mail from an e-mail account of type “login@yandex.com.tr”, the part before the “@” sign will be considered as the username. If you are using Yandex.Mail for Business, you must specify the full address of the email account as the username.

Warning. It is not recommended to use your internet provider’s e-mail server to send e-mails in Yandex.

Support for the IMAP protocol will be automatically enabled when you log in to the email program for the first time.

Set the program according to the POP3 protocol

When the POP3 protocol is used, all e-mails from the folders you specify in the All settings → E-mail programs menu will be saved in the Inbox folder of your computer by the e-mail program. You can set filters in the e-mail program to automatically move e-mails to the folders you want when you need them. The emails you send will only be stored on your computer.

Note. When e-mail is downloaded from the server via the POP3 protocol, Yandex.Mail automatically saves copies of e-mails on the server, but you can manually delete e-mails with the help of the web interface. If you want to delete e-mails with the help of e-mail program, use the IMAP protocol.

Before setting up the Mail program, enable the POP3 protocol.

1. Click the star icon in the upper right corner.

2. Click the All settings link.

3. Click the Email programs link.

4. Activate the option from the server pop.yandex.ru according to the POP3 protocol.

5. Save the changes.

To set the e-mail program according to the POP3 protocol, you must specify the following data:

You can set up the retrieval of email from any folder, including Spam, according to the POP3 protocol. To do this, open the menu All settings → E-mail programs and mark the desired folders.

By default, e-mails are not marked as read while the contents of the e-mail box are downloaded by e-mail programs. If you want to mark e-mails you have received as read, enable the corresponding option.
